Muska

Hello All,

On behalf of Mushka, we, Dean, Andrea and Cait (his new pets), are sending you some photos of him. Our beautiful boy loves his new home. As you can see he leads a very busy lifestyle, sometimes he runs out of time to get a nap in. Don't let these photos fool you though, he is a very stealthy, highly trained "Attack Cat". Don't try and sneak past while he is sleeping under the bed, you will be tapped on the foot as you go past and if that doesn't get a response, he will attach to your leg until you stop and chat. "Curiousity killed the cat" was made for Mushka as he has to be involved with everything that happens on the kitchen bench or at the table. He never jumps up on the cupboards or anything, he just puts up his paw and feels around to see if he can hook anything because, if you are standing there, it must be something good.

He has well and truly became part of the family, we often wonder what we did without our little man.

Thank you once again for giving us the opportunity to be owned by a cat again.

Bindi

Hi Everyone.... Thought that I would let you all know how I am getting on. As I have a problem with trying to wedge a pen between my paws, I asked my mum to write this for me. Since leaving the Refuge and venturing out in the world I have been having a fabulous time – seeing a bit of the country travelling up to Mum with the Dog Movers, investigating my new home and making friends with the other dogs, Jack, Wal, Major (who also came from the refuge) and Crimpy the Goat. Also just recently I enjoyed a great day at the beach.
I love it here! I have the run of the property and my Mum is the best ... she loves me to bits. I have included a few photos of my new life.
In the first photo Mum and I were taking a break from building the cattle yards (always time for scratch!!).
Here I am surveying my kingdom from my favourite place...
We (Mum & I) would like to thank all the staff at the refuge (especially Helene), for taking such good care of me.
Better be off now....

Much Love
Bindi XX

George

Hello everyone....

My name is George and my owners Zoe and Aaron adopted me in August. They saw me when they were up visiting Zoes' Mum and Dad, so I actually live in Brisbane. I love travelling in the car, especially when the back windows are down and I can feel the wind in my hair. Other people driving past think it's pretty cute - one lady even took a photo of me one day! Sometimes I jump in the front seat and I'm really good. I just sit there, contemplating life. Before I was adopted, I was an outside dog, but now my Mum and Dad let me sleep inside, which I love. I snore a lot but luckily Mum and Dad think it's pretty cute! Sometimes I even sneak into the spare room when we have visitors sleeping over and sleep on the bed with them! I'm getting better on the lead and I know to sit and wait when doors are being opened and when crossing the road.

My favourite things are: burying new bones in the back yard, Maccas ice-cream cones, whatever Mum and Dad are eating, playing with my rope and ball, sunbaking in the backyard and getting visitors (especially Nan and Pop as they spoil me heaps!). My parents are always laughing at me and telling me that I should have been a human. Sometimes I fall off the lounge head first whilst I'm asleep and when rain is coming I walk around barking at things that aren't there. When I'm inside, my Mum pulls the curtain back so I can look out the dining room window. I love seeing what is going on and I can sit there for ages. I love my new home, and my new family, and I can't wait to grow old with them.

Thank you for letting me stay with you until I met my new family....

Love, George

Sir Cat

I have been renamed"Sir Cat". I am just the KING and Mum and Dad love me to bits. On our first journey, as we left the refuge, we had a great trip for the first hour. I sat on Mums' lap and then curled around her neck and looked out the windows with a continual PURR!!!!!!!!!!! I had my first ...... little mishap ...... pooop, I sat on the dashboard of the motorhome and did it.......!!
Mum cleaned it up, (was not that much anyway).
Dad was not too impressed.
Then another 20 min into the journey, I decided to get up on the dash again and do a long wee. Mum grabbed for the towel and wiped that very fast, then sprayed it with a deodorant that she had purchased while at our motorhome rally. It is supposed to get rid of any smell and is bio-degradable.
Well after that we did arrive safe at our friends' house and spent a few very good days there.
I was on a hunger strike for the first two and half days. Mum wouldn't get me anything different, as she had got me the special diet for furballs and all that. She just said to me, " when you get hungry enough you will eat it mate, cause that's what's for dinner, breakfast and tea." She sat on the floor with me and finally encouraged me to eat one tiny biscuit. Once I got the taste, I decided that I could drop my attitude and pride and I then settled in well. Ate and ate for the next few hours, purring like crazy and just laying about.
Our second move down the highway went great. I sat on Mums' lap and slept and watched whatever, as we continued down the road. I has never let out with a loud cat call.
I like our lifestyle and Mum and Dad too.
However I did have one more little incident. I did a ....... poop...... this time on the bed ...... Dads' pillow to be exact, while the motorhome was moving.
Dad was very quiet and not saying a word as Mum took the pillowcases off the bed to go and do the laundry.
Meanwhile I was in the drivers' seat taking
in the sun and resting.
We will all settle into life on the road together. Silently Dad loves me. I know cause he spends lots of time in the motorhome with me and watches DVDs or TV and we sit on same cushion and Dad pats me all the time.

Update
Hi Helene and the family at the Maryborough Refuge,
I am so happy and spoilt with my Mum and Dad. They only buy the best for me and I just love it. I get spoilt and eat anti- furball foods, I get the best of the litter provided for me to do my business in. I get toys to play with and watch the TV with Dad lots. I have my own area in our motorhome and if I want time out, then that is where I go to and nobody disturbs me. I come out and play again. I go outside, but there is a rule that I have to have my lead on. I never get away without my lead, but I don't try to either. I get to sleep on Mums' side of the bed at night. There are some wonderful people in this world and I have been blessed with my new home and parents.
Kindest regards
Sir Cat.

Mum & Dad (Mar and Phil) are just delighted to have this wonderful life changing SIR in our lives.
Motorhome living suits this SirCat and us.
Thanks Helene and the Team at Maryborough

Molly

Hi. My Mum has been kind enough to send in some pictures of me, Molly, hard at work at my new home.

In this photo I am just making sure that the water trough for the newly arrived, abused horses is filling up correctly. You can't be too careful about all these things.

Then of course, I have to check out and make sure that they are feeling catered for appropriately, although distance is a must, as at the moment these horses are not the friendliest. They are very distrusting of even such a lovely dog as me.

Please also find enclosed proof that I really don't hate kids.I was just misunderstood. I actually love
the attention of anyone that will give me a pat and a scratch without yanking on my beautiful, long hair.

Love and licks,

Rosie

My new family came to the refuge about three weeks ago to look at me, fell in love and took me home. They say I am a beautiful little dog and I have settled in very happily with them. I feel as if I was meant to be here and I think they feel the same way.
Thanks to all of you at the refuge for taking me in and looking after me so well, until I was lucky enough to be discovered by them on the "Older Pets" page of your great web site.

Rufass

Hi, my name is Rufass and my new Mum, Roslyn has written this for me ... I couldn't stay still long enough at the keyboard to do it myself! Mum and my new sister brought me home from Marborough refuge a few months ago. They reckon that I'm a great dog, but they think that I take Happy Pills as I am always smiling and running around like crazy and make the whole family laugh. I even managed to get myself into the Esk Shire Council Pound once, as I was following them down the road and the neighbours didn't know I was their new dog. Now if they go out, I get tied up, but I'm always running free when they are home Their horse has a new foal and I goes out in the paddock and just sit there with the foal. I am learning how to jump on their ute and the whole family thinks I am funny and love to watch me bound around the place. I love it when they take me to Burrum Heads with them, as I love chasing the fish in the river for hours, as I loves the water. They also think it's funny that I love the water that much that I drink with my nose in the bucket or from a running tap above my head.

Thanks for letting me stay with you for a while 'till Mum found me.

Rougie

Good Day All! Just a short note about Rougie.

I keep forgetting to send you a message to let you know how he is going. Apart from putting on a bit of weight, he is doing very well.
We adopted Rougie early March 2005 (yes I know it is a while ago!). He settled in very well and there has been no looking back, I am sure that he would find it hard going back out on to the streets of Maryborough!!! We take him for a hydro bath for a special treat and the ladies know it is Rougie before they see him, as his bark gives him away, apparently! We all love him and he is my special smoochie poochie!!

Tom & Zues

Our names are Tom and Zues. Our names were Cleo and Zeus, but then Mum & Dad found out that Cleo was a boy and Zeus a girl! We live with 2 dogs and all get on really well. We are both about one to two years old abd have been with Mum & Dad for about 9 months and haven't looked back. We play crazy games all day and night which is good, but we run a little too fast for inside the house. Mum & Dad don't let us go outside unless they are with us as we live on a farm and they are wary of stray dogs. We also like their 2 pet birds which we sometimes try to attack, but not too seriously and the birds soon scare us off. Mum & Dad are currently in the hunt for another doggy to add to the family, so we're guessing they'lll be back at Maryborough soon!!

Koda

Hi guys! Boy, I’ve got a lot to tell you! When I left the refuge it was a long trip back to Bribie Island (I vomited a few times – oops), where I met my new best doggy-friend, Missie (that’s her sitting behind me in the photo). My new Mum and I lived with Missie and her Mum and Dad for a while, but now we’ve moved to our new kennel at Caboolture. That’s cool though – now I get ALL the attention.

Some of the things I love to do, include lying in the hot sun, chasing pesky birds and lizards, sleeping, chatting with the neighbours, playing with my squeakers (that translates to toys in human-speak) and going for walkies. Sometimes, we go for walkies past a retirement kennel and the people there always give me heaps of pats and cuddles.

On the weekends, I get to go to the beach for long, long runs and swims. Sometimes, my friends Missie and Boney come too - I love them both, but Boney slobbers a bit (he’s a bumbling Boxer). Last year I did obedience and agility classes. I got to chase all the other dogs, but I also learnt that when I do what Mum asks me, I get a yummy treat! I can now do all sorts of tricks: the usual ones, plus I can weave, jump, dance, wait until called (Mum loves using this one to make me wait at the gate while she does people stuff, though it’s hard to hold back when those black streaky fluffy things run by). I love playing the squeaker game with Mum too – she makes me wait while she hides one of my squeakers somewhere in the house, then she comes back and tells me to find it – I win every time.

Mostly I just love snuggling up to Mum or anyone else who’ll let me lick and cuddle them. Thank you for uniting me with my Mum – she’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Someday, I’ll come back to the refuge to see you guys. ‘Til then, hugs and sloppy slurps from me!
