Trixie

Just a quick contact from me. I had a bubble bath when I arrived at my new home and then got a new collar and harness, as well as a new lead, so I'm loving it. After the somewhat confusing start to our adoption, we have all settled down really well. Dad makes a huge fuss of me and we leave Mum home while we go to the shops in the car for the morning paper. Mum & Dad are now in the habit of grooming me and Gemma (my Cavalier King Charles sister), then an early morning walk before a nice snooze in my sheepskin lined basket, followed by a play. After Mum & Dad have had lunch, we take a 'nanna nap', then Gemma,Mum and I watch the soaps from Mums' bed. We then we have a cuddle and a play before tea and some TV on Mums' lap, then a last walk around the acreage for the obvious, before bed. Thank you for looking after me so well while I was there. Even though you were all really kind there is no way I'll be back. I have just realised that I have a voice and today barked for the first time when someone came to the door. Mum and Dad liked that, so it looks like I'll have protection duty from now on.
Mum says to tell you to keep up the good work,
lots of hugs and kisses

RAJA`S STORY

Since I adopted my new family I have been training them to take for walks nearly everyday. When I return home I get treats such as a chicken frame or a bone. I sleep under a highset house and in the middle of the night when I get bored, I help myself to the pot plants and if the washing is left on the line unsupervised I have a swinging good time. If that isn`t available there is always the garden hose to chew up or my bed to rip up or maybe some new holes in the yard to dig for my human owners to fill in!!!!
I am very very happy with the human I selected.

Thank you for caring for me , but I am afraid I will never return.

Yours truly,
Raja Mattson 10/02/2004

Shadow

Just an email to let you know that Shadow, the Bearded Collie x, arrived safe and well in Gladstone and is settling in nicely. He was playing with our other dog, Tasha, within an hour of arriving and already has had a bath and brush, his ears cleaned and gained a new, reflector collar. He's looking pretty swish ! You're right, he doesn't have a mean bone in his body and has been madly playing ball with our young daughter most of the morning.

Please pass this message on to his sponsor mum, Jordan, too. We are thankful that Shadow had caring people in his life like all of you. I'm sure he'd bark a huge thanks if he could. We'll send you regular updates on how he is going, including photos of his first Christmas !
Regards
Peta and Gary

Billie

Billie, the Staffy x, is one of our favourite success stories. She came to us at the ripe "old age" of 14 and we thought that the Refuge had yet another life long pet. However, she was seen by Jane and her family when she was put on the "Older Pets" page. They already had an "elderly" Staffy, Clem and the family fell in love ... a different twist to meeting loved ones through the Internet!

As you can see, it appears that she has well and truely settled in and looks the picture of health! Living right next to the beach, she seems to spend a big paert of her day sunbathing on her sheepskin with Clem.

She has an extended human family, with 4 big sisters and a big brother ... whose bed she sleeps on! Here she is with big sister Christy.

Live long and happy Billie!

P.S. My new look without the lumps and bumps, a manicure and painted nails and a lovely shiny coat.
Thanks Mum

Vale Billie 13/05/05
Sadly missed by Jane, Clem and family.

Reggie

Just thought I would ask my new family to drop you a email on my life these days. Things couldn't be any better. I live with a family of Humans and I have 3 Greyhound pets for friends. We all get on well and just on the quiet, I think the others think I'm cool. I get the run of the house, sleep with my adult Human Friends and they take me for drives in the car all the time. They think so much of me, that they have got me my very own seat belt. I just wanted to thank all you Humans at the Refuge for your help in finding me such a great home and I wish all the best for you all in the future. I also hope all the animals in the refuge get as lucky, as I did and can be loved and looked after like I am.

Take Care and A big Kissxxxxxxxxxxx
Love REGGIE the Beagle.

Bella

This is a photo of Bella, who came into the Maryborough Refuge from Hervey Bay. Her previous owners have been told she has gone to a good home and she most certainly has! She goes to the Fraser Coast Agility Dogs where she has commenced the beginner course with her new owner Mikayla and on Sundays when she joins the gang for socialisation at SmartPaws. She lives with two other Golden Retrievers, one of which turns out to be her Uncle. Her new owner Mikayla, pictured with her, had been saving up for a long time for a puppy of her own and when Bella came along, it is love at first sight. Mikayla wants her previous owners to know how much Bella is loved and cared for.

This photo shows Uncle Max sitting, Bella standing and 'brother' Harry lying down.

Buboushka

My name was Sinbad but my new parents call me Buboushka or Bub or Boushka for short. I love my new home and especially my new Mummy. We do everything together when she is home from work - sometimes she even takes me to work with her - she's a psychologist and says I'm extra therapy for her clients! - She feeds me Dine, hard whiskas bits, milk and kitty treats! I am really spoilt. I have a special two-storey scratching post and my own cubby house bed! They have a bird which Iam not allowed anywhere near! They also have a HUGE fishtank with lots of little fishies swimming around - I love watching them. Anyways, thank you for looking after me at the refuge!

Ralph

Ralph loves sitting with Ben in front of the fire to keep warm. Ralph is such a little cutie, he runs around the house going crazy and attacking all of his toys I have bought him (I have given him a few of my old toys and he has ripped them apart!). He has little jumpers to keep warm when he isnt in my bed or near the fire and he looks so cute. Anyway just letting you know that he is going great and I love him sooooo much! I would never get rid of him and I dont understand how anyone could have given up this little terror...I mean treasure! He is the best! Thank you a lot!

Footnote

Ralph is now living with his "Granny" in Maryborough, as his Mum is at Uni. She has been shopping to find him a leather jacket and all the cool (and warm) gear that any little boy could ever want. He has chicken pet mince for brekky and dinner and warmed milk in the mornings as well. Lots of bones to chew for his teeth and dare I say, the odd little chocolate treat. He has lots of toys too but best of all, he has a companion who is around most of the time and takes him for lots of walks in the bush with the big dogs, which he loves.many thanks for a great refuge and the fantastic job you all do there.

Toby

This is Toby, the day we brought him home from the refuge – a Brindle Staffy x Bully x Cattle Dog puppy- and thought you might like a photo of him.He is a lovely natured little fellow and is settling in well – no accidents inside yet. Our 6 year old Tonkinese is not at all impressed!! Thank you so much for our handsome little boy.
Cheers,
Sharyn, Mark, Jordan and Declan

Hi
Everyone

Tyson here or should I say Taipan ... it appears my new owners have a hearing problem. Just a note to say that I am doing really well in my new home in the country. Thank you for looking after me for so long. I miss you all.
